Job Description
Material Handler
 
 
This position is responsible for moving materials with fork truck and material handling. This position involves forklift operators in the warehousing area. Loading, unloading, reporting inventory from vendors purchased and customer purchased stock are essential. In addition, this position is responsible for stages and set-ups of materials for production lines, receives raw materials from railcars/bulk trucks and issues to the proper silo. This position may also assist the extrusion operator with start-ups, troubleshooting and shut-downs. This position is in constant communication with the co-ex operator. 
 
  • Communicate effectively with associated personnel in all phases of the operation and processes, both written and oral. 
  • Constant operation of heavy equipment. 
  • Complete daily safety inspection of forklifts and perform appropriate actions for forklift repairs or safety hazards. 
  • Complete daily forklift safety log.
  • Constant visual demands with near and far vision. 
  • Constant depth perception. 
  • Constant color vision. 
  • Constant general field of vision
  • Unload trucks using a forklift of materials sent over from the production facility. 
  • Remove excess packaging and combine with other packaging material and bring new packaging for the next scheduled job.
  • Deliver scrap pallets to the dumpsters.
  • Pull scrap loads. 
  • Check in customer purchased materials.
  • Identify and locate finished materials into racks giving information to inventory analyst.
  • Weigh each box or skid and log information onto a legal size sheet of paper.
  • Turn in paperwork in to designated warehouse personnel. 
  • Check in vendor purchased materials. 
  • Verify weights and put materials away in designated areas, logging this information onto  the packing list.
  • Pull materials by use of a designated "parts list" to be loaded and sent to the production facility. 
  • Pull materials by use of a designated parts list" to be loaded and transferred to other company plants or sold.
  • Check in Grind Batches. 
  • Identify material, type and color.
  • Weigh each box and log weights on construction tag. 
  • Occasional use of sharp utensils. 
 
 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

 
High school diploma or general educational degree (GED). Must be 18 years or older.
 
 

LANGUAGE SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

 
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
 
 

MATH SKILL ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

 
Possess average math and reading skills. Must be able to operate a calculator and scale. Must be able to read a tape measure. Must be able to operate a computer. 

 

 

REASONING ABILITY:

 
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to make decisions based upon facts and act upon those decisions.
  

SPECIAL  QUALIFICATIONS:

 
Must be able to work at a rapid pace, be detailed oriented and take breaks and lunches as time and conditions allow.
 
 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:


Meet average or above average mechanical testing as defined by the Company and must have valid and current state motor vehicle license. 

 

Compensation:

$15/hour

 

Work Schedule:

Our facility is a 24/7 operation. All operators will be required to work 12 hour shifts and "Mandatory" Overtime for the time being.
