Position: Solution Architect

Location: Cambridge

Duration: 1 year




This role will be responsible for the design of a technical solution to build a consolidated policy information store that is able to source from internal Company’s legacy policy systems and external data sources.  The solution architect will define a harmonized API specification for both internal and external policy information.  In addition, the architect will actively be engaged technology teams in external client partners guiding them to design their APIs so the Company can incorporate the client’s policy information.  An understanding of different development methodologies, technology stacks, and cultures is required. 

Technical solutions designed by the solution architect will need to be aligned with concepts from the business architect.  The solution architect will provide the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks to technical teams and external development providers. 

Beyond delivery, the architect is actively engaged with peers in the Americas and leverages guiding principles and architecture paradigms deployed within the Company’s Technology landscape.  The solutions delivered as part of this role will contribute to an enterprise technology roadmap that evolves the architecture in support of the overall Company’s business strategy.



  • Work with technology teams in external partners to define API definitions and exchange policy insurance data.
  • Lead the analysis of the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and design an API solution that consolidates policy data in multiple legacy source systems running SQL Server.
  • Understand business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state), and determine corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes.
  • Oversee and facilitate the research, evaluation, and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations.
  • Provide consulting support to business architects, business analysts, external vendors and internal technical teams to ensure the project is aligned with the overall enterprise architecture.
  • Work with architect peers in Americas to provide principles, guidelines, standards and solution patterns to ensure solution decisions are aligned with the enterprise's future-state architecture vision.
  • Describe the technology investment required for new solutions and participate in other IT budgeting and capital planning processes.
  • Work closely with the transformation program office to ensure the execution of plans corresponds with what is being promised.




  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, System Analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of design and implementation experience in IT with a background in application development and a deep knowledge in a minimum of two of the following technical disciplines: infrastructure and network design, APIs, middleware, servers and storage, database management, and operations.
  • Extensive experience in API connectivity both as a provider of information and to call out and source information.
  • Proven track record working with technology teams in external client organizations with different jargon, work intake processes and cultures.
  • Ability to translate future-state business capabilities and requirements into solution architecture requirements.
  • Understanding of different software development models including waterfall and agile methods and processes.
  • Working knowledge of network and security architecture.
  • Ability to communicate, influence and persuade peers.
  • Adept in working within a global and matrix organization. 
  • Prior exposure to effort and cost estimates.
  • Past experience in supporting different industries and lines of businesses.




Office environment with moderate noise



Mainly sitting and talking on the phone/using computer with frequent opportunity to move about freely; occasional lifting may be required.
